Cam Agaci Zamani - Xmas Tree Time

Agustos dogumlu bir insan olarak kis mevsiminden hic hoslanmasam da Aralik ayinin yeri benim icin hep bir baska olmustur. Yilbasi ruhu, kirmizi yesil ve altin renginin uyumu, isil isil hediye kaplari derken yilin bu son ayinin ne kadar hizli gectigine hep sasirmis, sanki daha 3 gun once kurmus oldugumuz cam agacini Ocak ortalarinda annemin turlu israrlari sonucu kaldirmaya ikna olmusumdur.

Kisacasi Aralik ayi ile ilgili ilk defa yagan kardan, arkadaslara alinan hediyelerden, 31'inde giyilecek parti kiyafetinden bile daha cok sevdigim detay hep cam agaci suslemek olmustur. Gelin kendi cam agacimi da susledigim bu hafta bir yazi ile hep birlikte neler yapabiliriz uzerinden gecelim.

Although I can never say that winter and I have been BFFs as an August born kid, December has always had a special place in my hearth. While enjoying the spirit of Christmas, the harmony of red green and gold ornaments and the colorful wrapping papers I have always been surprised by how quickly we reach the end of this month. My mom has always had to convince me to take our Christmas Tree away till mid January.

In a word, decorating a Christmas Tree has always been the most exciting part of December for me. Even more than the first snow of the season, the gifts bought for friends or choosing the party outfit to wear on the 31st. So, let's talk about what we can do to have a beautiful Christmas Tree now that I have just assembled my very own at home.

1. Adim: Konsept - Step 1: Concept

Ben cam agacimi her sene farkli tonlarda ya da konseptlerde suslemeyi seviyorum. Yukarida da bahsettigim gibi yilbasi ruhunu kirmizi, yesil ve altin sarisi yansitsa bile biraz daha yaratici olmakta bence bir sakinca yok. Ornegin ben bu sene biraz daha geleneksel takilip agacimi kirmizi ve gumus renklerinde susledim. Genen sene ise sadece top seklindeki susleri kullanip sari-yesil bir agac yapmistim. Bir onceki sene ise bastan asagi mor susler kullanmistim.

Siz isi biraz daha farklilastirip son senelerde cok moda olan ahsap veya kagit susleri kullanip organik bir hava yaratabilirsiniz. Araya ekleyeceginiz gercek kozalaklarla cok daha sevimli gorunecektir. Yargici her sene bu tarz bir suru yeni sus cikariyor ama bu sene Tepe Home'da da bu renkler agirlikta.

Farkli bir alternatif ise agacinizi yenilebilir detaylarla suslemek, ornegin bayramda gelmeyen misafirler icin aldigimiz renkli paketli cikolatalari ipe gecirip araya birkac tane baston seker ve minyatur icki siselerinden koyabilirsiniz. Agacin onunden her gectiginizde bir cikolata agziniza atsaniz ay sonunda agaci kaldirirken de daha az ugrasmis olursunuz.

I like to choose the ornaments in a particular color or concept each year. As I mentioned above, despite of the fact that Christmas spirit is all about red green and gold, there is nothing wrong about being a bit more creative. For example, this year I went for something more traditional and picked my ornaments in red and silver. But last year I only used green and gold balls and the year before it was all purple.

You can make things a little more interesting and use the wooden or paper ornaments which have become very popular for the last couple of years to create an organic look. Adding some pine cones that you can pick from the woods on a trekking day would make it even more pretty. In Istanbul you can find this type of ornaments in Yargici or Tepe Home.

Another alternative can be decorating your tree with edible materials such as colorful Hershey Kisses, candy canes and miniature alcohol bottles. Plus, if you grab one candy each time you pass in front of your tree it will ease your job at the end of month while you're taking it away.

2. Adim: Isiklar - Step 2: Lights

Bu sene benim dustugum hataya dusmeyin ve koca isigi agaca dengeli bir sekilde asmak icin en az 45 dk harcadiktan sonra fise takmayin derim. Cam agaci isiklari dunyanin en kolay bozulan seyleri olabilir sanirim o yuzden daha agacinizin konseptini planlarken isiklarinizi bir fise takip kontrol etmenizi oneririm. Belki de sus alisverisinizi yaparken yeni bir tane almaniz gerekecektir.

Please do not make the same mistake I did and do not plug your lights after you spend 45 mins to wrap it around you tree evenly. These Christmas Tree lights are the easiest thing to break down so while you are planning your concept give it a try and check if they are still working. You might need to add a new one to your shopping list.

3. Adim: Tum Ev - Step 3: Your Home

Dunyanin en sevimli cam agacini kursaniz bile tek basina ise kendisi biraz yalnizlik cekebilir. Koltuklariniza ekleyeceginiz birer yilbasi temali yastik, caminiza asacaginiz bir minik isik ile cam agacinizi cok daha mutlu edebilirsiniz. Boyner ve Tepe Home her sene cok tatli Noel Baba, Kardan Adam, Ren Geyigi figurleri getirmekte. Bunlar Aralik ayi boyunca biraz pahali olsa da yilbasinin hemen ertesi gunu genelde yari fiyatina satilmaya basliyorlar. O yuzden bu seneyi pas gecip 2017'nin ilk gunlerinde bunlardan birer tane edinirseniz, onumuzdeki sene sominenizin ustunu ya da cam agacinin altindaki hediyelerinizin yanini susleyebilirsiniz.

Mesela ben Tepe Home'da bu sene cok sevimli bir Penguen gordum Ocak ayinda ilk is (kalmis olursa) onlardan bir tane almayi planliyorum. Unutmadan Tepe Home'a gittiginizde kasada bir form doldurarak ay sonu yapilacak indirimden sizi haberdar etmelerinizi isteyebilirsiniz.

Even if you have the world's most beautiful Christmas Tree it might feel a bit lonely if it doesn't have any friends. You can make it happy by simply adding a few Christmas themed cushions on your sofa or hanging some extra lights on your living room window. You can buy some Santa Claus, Snowman or Reindeer figures to decorate your fireplace. Although these figures are quite expensive during December they generally reduce to half in the first days of new year. So, you can mark one or two favorites now, and buy them in 2017. This way next year they'll be ready to decorate your fireplace or stand next to your gifts under your gorgeous Christmas Tree.
